Lever Frames by MODRATEC
- It's clever!
- It's versatile!
- It's affordable!
- It's a way to apply Mechanical Interlocking to the Points and Signals on your Model Railway!

A 12-lever example of a MODRATEC Mechanically Interlocked Lever Frame
MODRATEC has developed a system that allows virtually any railway modeller to incorporate what they have always dreamed of—realistic hands-on control of points and signals, interlocked for safety.
And even if you don't have a model railway, a fully interlocked Lever Frame makes a great executive toy!
Versatility
Each MODRATEC Mechanically Interlocked Lever Frame is customised for your specific layout requirements.
- It works for mechanical control of points and signals.
- It works for electrical control.
- ... or a mixture of both.
- It controls semaphore signals.
- It controls colour-light signals.
- It interfaces to automatic signals.
And now includes CONDITIONAL INTERLOCKING!!.
Your design
... the task of making a proper frame, with tappets and sliders working in concert to prevent a conflicting move or unsafe working method being executed, has been made considerably easier thanks to MODRATEC of Australia. [RAILWAY MODELLER - Feb 2006]
Interlocking design has always seemed something of a mysterious black art. To overcome this, MODRATEC has created a design tool called SigScribe4.
You can download SigScribe4 free of charge. You use it to draw your track plan, place signals, and define routes. SigScribe4 then creates the mechanical interlocking design and simulates it so that you can test your design.
Your Lever Frame Kit
MODRATEC uses your SigScribe4 design to generate your customised Kit and Construction Manual.
With standard Kits, you are provided with drilling guides so that you can place holes accurately. Many holes also need to be tapped with an M3 thread.
Alternatively, MODRATEC can provide Premium Kits with all holes pre-drilled and tapped as required.

Signalling Wiki needs Authors
We have recently launched rail-interlock.com as a wiki-style site aimed at defining the functions of railway signalling and interlocking. There is only a minimal skeleton at this stage.
If you have a particular interest in this area of knowledge, please consider offering your services as an author. Only registered authors will be permitted to add and edit content.
The concept is to create a single tree structure of information beginning from the most generic of definitions before moving to the more specific information relating to particular real-world applications and practice.
Please contact us for further information or to register your interest in becoming an author.
